Building A Baby- weeks 7-9

                                                                   
  Facts:

During week seven these things will happen to the fetus:

  • elbows form
  • ears, nose, and eyes start to appear
  • teeth begin to develop under the gums
  • feet start to appear
  • intestines start to develop in the umbilical cord

During week eight these things will happen to the fetus:

  • tongue begins to develop
  • toes and fingers develop but are short and webbed
  • cartilage and bones begin to form but baby is still see-through

During week nine these things will happen to the fetus:

  • Baby begins to move
  • most joints are formed
  • fingerprints are evident in skin
  • fetus will hold things (mostly other body parts)

Some major milestones include:

  • The fetus will curve it's fingers around an object. These objects will most likely be other body part such as: feet, toes, other fingers, hands, nose, and ears.
  • Another major milestone is that the fetus will begin moving at this time of pregnancy.

 

 

  Tests:

The test that the doctors do during this time of pregnancy is an ultrasound. They do ultrasounds during the entire pregnancy but the tests are different for each trimester. These are some of the things that doctors test for:

  • to determine the due dates
  • to examine the uterus and other pelvic anatomies
  • to determine the number of fetuses
  • to determine whether it is an ectopic pregnancy or a miscarriage
