The Revealers

In the next three weeks we will be reading The Revealers. You each will receive your own copy of the novel. It is yours to keep.

As we read, we will be discussing bullying as the main issue of the story. Today, we will start with this assignment:

Draw your stereotype of a bully. Next, describe that bully in a paragraph. Be sure to include your stereotypical bully’s actions and language, not just a physical description.

Starting today, you should be aware of the following ongoing current events assignment:

You are responsible for finding one article or TV news story about bullying or harassment. This must describe a current issue. You will write a summary of the article or TV news story and share it with the class. You have until April 28^th to share your current event, but you should not wait until the last minute to do so.

Starting when you leave English class today, you have the following Hallway Homework assignment:

For your next 24 hours in Hazen’s hallways, you must smile to everyone you pass and offer help when needed. Notice the reactions and responses to this positive you. We will discuss reactions and responses to your positive actions in class Tuesday, April 4.

Over the weekend, you may have the following reading assignment if we do not finish it in class:

Finish reading the first two chapters of The Revealers for Tuesday’s class.
